హాపీ డేస్ పాటలు - తొలి impressions

మొత్తం ఏడు పాటలు ఉన్నాయి హాపీ డేస్ లో - అన్నీ మంచి ప్రాచుర్యం పొందే విధంగానే కూర్చాడు కొత్త సంగీత దర్శకుడు మిక్కి. టైటిల్ పాట హాపీ డేస్ రాక్స్ మరియు జిల్ జిల్ జిగా అనే ఇంకో పాట ఒకే బాణీలో ఉండి - బీట్లు క్వీన్ పాట "వీ విల్ రాక్యూ" ని గుర్తు తెచ్చేవిగా, బాణీ మణిరత్నం చిత్రం యువ లో "ధక్కా లగా బుక్కా" పాటని గుర్తు తెచ్చేవిగా ఉన్నాయి. మిగతా పాటలన్నీ వినడానికి సొంపుగానే ఉన్నాయి. ఆనందదాయకమైన విషయం మాత్రం, ఇంత వరకూ శేఖర్ చిత్రం అనగానే పాడిందే పాటరా పాచి పళ్ళ దాసరా? అనిపించే తీరులో ఉండే కే.ఎం.రాధాకృష్ణన్ పాటలనుండి మనకి విముక్తి లభించడం.

శృతిలయలు చిత్రంలోని 'తెలవారదేమో స్వామి' పాటకి పల్లవి కళాతపశ్వి రాయగా చరణపూరణం సిరివెన్నెల చేసారని ఎక్కడో చదివిన గుర్తు. ఇది నిజమా?

ఇప్పుడే రిడిఫ్లో చక్దే పాటల సమీక్ష చదివి నవ్వాపుకోలేకపోయాను..ఇది రాసాను.

Head straight to Rediff's review of Chak De music if you want some laughs. The reviewer, who definitely lived in a cave till recently (he thinks Rang De Basanti is THE FIRST generation of new Bollywood sound) states that the revolutionized production standards of Hindi films passed on their bleeding edge touch to music also, and so we have screeching violins and raga-based compositions giving way to X-gen loops, beats and what not. Funny, eh?

Looping and beating have been happening in Hindi songs for many years now, RDB didn't herald anything new there, did it? The author who considers Salim Suleiman the most underrated duo in the film industry should know. Now what memorable scores did the duo deliver? Only Darna Mana Hai and Iqbal, both average beats and loops scores come to my mind.

And what about the alleged Second generation of this new bollywood sound? In reviewers words, it comes with Sarangi, Shehnai, Lovely melodies laced with some loops, programmed grooves and chick-rock. There, Bollywood music crossed a generation and unbeknownst to the old schoolers made its way to car speakers and nightclubs. Whoa!

Credibility

Some actors, poor fellows, make us wonder how they manage a straight face doing their on-screen macho stuff. One slices a bullet in half mid-air, one kills an opponent by bouncing a bullet off himself, one lands a heavy punch on the villian with a flicker-n-twist of his moustache, one drags a chair from a few feet away by nothing but mere stylish movement of his fingers - talk of legerdemain! One rewrites the concept of current shock managing to shock the current! Imagine that!!

It doesn't take much (may be a couple of Youtube visits is all is needed) to find out the actors I am talking about. These fellows have a serious credibility issue. Because of the impossibles they made possibles, even their plausibles strike us as improbables. Here is how.

A few days ago when I saw this clip, I burst out laughing. Funny fellow, this hero chap I thought. Not for a second did it occur to me that a doctor performing surgery using nothing but cell-phone lights was possible. And then this odd piece of news appeared on Reuters, some doctors in Argentine did just that.

Well, this doesn't guarantee that I am not going to laugh off Vijaykanth's next movie stunt. As I said, some actors, poor fellows..their onscreen credibility is always a big question mark.

Computer animation మహిమతో నిజం ఎలకలా కనిపించే రెమీ వండే రాటటూయి రుచి చూసారా? నేను చూసి, అభిప్రాయం ఇక్కడ రాసాను. వీలు దొరికినప్పుడు చదవండి, మీరు ఏమనుకున్నారో తెలపండి.

సంగీతము శాస్రీయము

నిన్న నేను రాసిన ఆర్పీ పట్నాయక్ టపాకి ఎనానిమస్ రాసిన మూడు ముక్కల ప్రశ్నాభిప్రాయానికి నా ప్రత్యాభిప్రాయమ్మిదే..

1. శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతం రాని బాలు శంకరాభరణం పాటలు ఎలా పాడగలిగాడు?

మూడు ముక్కల్లో చెప్పాలంటే, ఆయన గొప్పవాడు కాబట్టి. ఆయన సంగీత ప్రావీణ్యతని విశ్లేషించగలిగే ప్రజ్ఞ నాలో లేదు కానీ నేను చదివిన విషయాలు కొన్ని చెప్పాలి. శంకరాభరణం పాటలు పాడడానికి ముందుగా మంగళంపల్లి బాలమురళీకృష్ణని అనుకున్నారు కాని ఆయన శంకర శాస్త్రి పాటలే కాదు పాత్ర కూడా కావాలనడంతో అది కుదరలేదు. అప్పుడు పుహళేంది (కె వీ మహాదేవన్ సహాయ-సంగీత దర్శకుడు) నెల గడువులో బాలుని నూరి, శాస్త్రీయోక్తంగా పాడడం నేర్పించారు. బాలు ఎంత గొప్పగా పాడాడో వేరే చెప్పనవసరం లేదు. ఐనా ఆ పాటలని తప్పు పట్టే వారు లేకపోలేదు. అది వేరే విషయం. ఒక సందర్భంలో బాలమురళీకృష్ణ గారే, ఓంకార నాదానుసంధానమౌ పాట అక్కడక్కడ శంకరాభరణరాగంలో ఉండదని అన్నారట. Sour grapes అని తో్సిపుచ్చుకానీ, ఆయన అన్నదాంట్లో నిజం ఉండవచ్చు. కొందరు శంకరా నాద శరీరాపరా పాటలో రాగ దోషాలు ఉంటాయని అంటారు. నిజం సంగీతజ్ఞులకే ఎరుక. శంకరాభరణం పాటలు చాలా సార్లు వినడం వల్ల నేను గమనించింది మాత్రం ఇది - సరిగమలు చకచక పాడడంలో బాలు కన్నా వాణి జయరాం దిట్ట అని. ఐనా నాకు బాలు గొంతే ఎక్కువ నచ్చుతుంది. నువ్వన్నట్లుగా గొప్పగా పాడడానికి శాస్త్రీయ సంగీత సాధన అవసరం లేదు - కిషోర్ కుమార్, ముఖేష్ లాంటి వారు రఫికి ధీటుగా నిలబడడమే దానికి తార్కాణం - కానీ, శాస్త్రీయ సంగీతం పాడడానికి సాధన అవసరం. మరి అలాంటి పాటలు కూర్చడానికో? పధ్ధతి పరంగా సంగీతం నేర్వందే అధి రాదని నా అభిప్రాయం.

2. పిట్టలకు సంగీతం వచ్చా?

రాదు కాబట్టే శ్రావ్యంగా గళమెత్తగలిగిన కోయిల కూడా సరిగమలు పాడదు.

3. నాకు తెలిసి సంగీతానికి శాస్త్రీయతకు సంభంధం లేదు.

ఇంతవరకూ నే రాసిందంతా చదివితే తెలుస్తుంది, గొప్పగా పాడడానికి శాస్తీయ సంగీతం అవసరం లేదని నేనూ ఒప్పుకుంటానని, కానీ శాస్త్రీయోక్తరాగాలాపనలు కూర్చడానికి సంగీత జ్ఞానం అవసరమని..
